何謂「企業社會責任」?

企業社會責任的重要性已被各界確認，但至今仍未有一個受公認的釋義。根據公民教育委員會描述，「企業社會責任」一般指：
一間公司透過其核心業務、社會投資、慈善活動以及對市民的承諾，為廣大市民應作出的正面貢獻。要衡量這些貢獻，主要取決於企業對處理其經濟、社會及環境影響的態度；以及與不同持份者，特別是股東、員工、顧客、業務伙伴、政府、社區人士及年青人等建立良好關係的工作。

此定義只為企業提供方向，助企業訂立符合其營商環境及企業方針的社會責任意義，將理念融入營運和管理之中，以促進經濟、社會、環境的可持續發展。

普遍來說，「企業社會責任」的四大範疇包括：

1. 改善僱員及其家屬的現況

2. 企業應顧及經濟、社會及環境的可持續發展

3. 企業應以符合道德規範的方式辦事

4. 企業應對社會作出貢
